Helen Robinson is an American artist based out of Brooklyn, New York. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Art History at Vanderbilt University, Nashville in 2013, in that time also completed a semester in Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in Paris, France. She continues to build her own body of work at her studio in Brooklyn.In her figurative paintings, Helen Robinson explores forms of self-expression and new forms of communication, most recently in the form of clothing. In this context, she thinks that people seem to be more opinionated than ever and clothing is a new outlet for that. "We live in an age where our opinions and feelings are encouraged and celebrated, and I think that shows in the way we dress." Phrases such as "Be Yourself" and "Women are Powerful" can be found in her works. Helen's work focuses on conceptual portraiture, exploring the nature of representation and the limitless potential of the human figure as a subject. Her paintings are all derived from photographs and studies and are mostly documentary in style.
